What is a GPSR label?
Since 13 December 2024, the EU General Product Safety Regulation requires every consumer product sold in the EU to carry the manufacturer's name, postal and email address, a product identifier such as a batch or model number, the details of an EU-based Responsible Person, and any warnings in the language of each country where the product is sold.
The same information must also appear on the online listing itself: Amazon, Etsy, and eBay now require it and delist products without it.
What a GPSR label must include
Whether you start from a GPSR label template or build one with this generator, every compliant label and online listing has to carry the same core fields:
- Manufacturer details: name or registered trademark, postal address, and a single point of contact (email or website).
- EU Responsible Person: the name, postal address, and email of an economic operator established in the EU. This is the field most non-EU sellers are missing.
- Product identifier: a type, batch, serial, or model number that lets the specific product be identified.
- Safety warnings: the relevant warning and usage information, in the official language of every member state where you sell.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a GPSR label if I sell on Etsy from outside the EU?
Yes. GPSR applies to all consumer products placed on the EU market regardless of where the seller is based.
Is this tool really free?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, requires no account, and your data never leaves your device.
Which languages do warnings need to be in?
The official language of every member state where you sell. This tool includes standard warnings pre-translated into all 24 official EU languages.
Is a GPSR label the same as a CE mark?
No. A CE mark shows a product meets specific EU product directives. GPSR adds general safety obligations and the traceability information (manufacturer, Responsible Person, product identifier, and warnings) every consumer product must carry. Many products need both.
Do handmade or small-batch products need a GPSR label?
Yes. GPSR has no general exemption for handmade, small-batch, or low-volume sellers. If you place a consumer product on the EU market, the requirements apply.
Where do I get an EU Responsible Person?
If you have no manufacturer, importer, or authorised representative established in the EU, you can appoint a Responsible Person service to act as yours.
